— The Story about history and style —

There are many bespoke pieces crafted by Mottahedeh. One of them, a monumental porcelain Carp Tureen, is presented at Christie’s this week (September 21-22).  Another will be a Mottahedeh porcelain Chinese export style monteith on stand, made for President Reagan as a parting gift to his Cabinet members. We are very happy to be part of the U.S. history, but also honored that Mottahedeh’s been part of a much bigger story, the one about ancient history and style.

President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan a Mottahedeh Porcelain Chinese Export-style Monteith

After President Reagan’s term in the White House, the Reagans moved to Bel Air, California. From 1989, this ordinary ranch house was transformed with elegance and style. Overseeing this transformation was none other than Mrs. Nancy Reagan. She was known for her taste which, together with interior designers, gave the final look to the house that many people still admire today.

“Their home was a reflection of their love
which endured for half a century,
their extraordinary journey together,
and Nancy’s elegant taste.  ~ Catherine Busch

However, many of these things that made the Reagans house so special and unique are now offered on auction at Christie’s. More than 400 items are waiting to be part of someone else’s history of style. Among these pieces, there are also bespoke Mottahedeh works of art made especially for President Reagan’s White House Cabinet and, later, moved to their house in Bel Air.
Among these pieces, we will only mention some: Mottahedeh Golden Butterfly monogrammed dinner service, modern green printing marks; then the best known item from the President’s cabinet - a Mottahedeh porcelain Chinese Export-style presidential presentation monteith on wood stand.

One of the most interesting pieces of Mottahedeh at the Reagans house was the carp tureen. Instead of the dining table, this gorgeous tureen was standing at the Reagans living room, full of light and brightness.
Some of the items with state motifs (symbols of the United States) will also be on auction at the Christie’s. Those are a pair of Mottahedeh porcelain Chinese Export-style bottle coolers, and an extraordinary set of six Mottahedeh Chinese Export-style plates (from the President’s inauguration).

Many of these items are available at our online store. Same in quality and design, they remain timeless and adjustable to every interior. We are very proud to have Mottahedeh inaugural gifts and dinnerware manufactured. Not only that these pieces represent the symbols of the United States, but they are also part of the U.S. history and, thus, their value is much higher.
Therefore, we are really excited to be part of the Christie’s auction (September 21-22) where Mottahedeh will be proudly presented. Mottahedeh porcelain has crossed many miles: from the White House, across California and back to the New York. But, this is not where it ends. These rare pieces of Mottahedeh will continue their travel and become the part of the new history, again, the one with elegance and style.
