Seeing the World through its Attributes.

Design of our Interior environment has become more important than ever, the world over, as so many people have been staying at home in the wake of the covid pandemic. They have been looking around and thinking about where they live.  As humans, we are affected by everything around us, both the interior of our homes and our exterior or natural landscape. We can affect that experience by how we arrange it. What is your space like?  Ask yourself this:  Is my space clean, orderly, disarrayed, full of stuff, crowded, minimalist, colorful, muted in grays, fragrant, smelly, bumpy, smooth, sunny, dark, inviting, closed in, overwhelming, loud, very quiet?

These are questions that interior designer grapple with.  When they are tasked with helping you organize or upgrade your space, they are bringing their “fresh eyes” to your space.

First, they need to find out about you. This requires sensitivity and good listening on their part. Then they find out what you want your space to be like, based on your preferences. Often we don’t know what we want,: it is just change. Often, we don’t know why something is the way it is in our home.  If it isn’t helpful or positive, change it.  The is where a set of “fresh eyes “ comes in.  A designer will see you space is broad strokes and help you define your priorities.

Think about how you would feel most comfortable or happy.  Do you have items in your house that remind you of good or special experiences?  Do you like certain colors and have them in your home? Does your style reflect a country or culture?   Is your family life relaxed or do you prefer a more formal arrangement? Do you have collections of things?  More than anything else a home should feel lived in and support you.

Does your home convey your personality and your sense of purpose?

We all differ in the measure of our talents and capacities.  How you express yourself extends, also, to your environment. Other people come into this environment and are affected by it.

What is your sense of purpose? Each of us has unique talents and characteristics and also individual potential for knowledge and experience. Happy people work at contributing those talents, in some way, to other people. This potential includes the virtues and qualities inherent in all human beings, and the talents and characteristics which are special to each individual.

One way that people are learning about the world and its diversity is through Instagram and other social media platforms.  The subjects that individuals put there are vast and diverse. Ideas for living spaces abound.  You can visit the world in literally seconds. In large part, you can see objects and nature in interesting environments and see them with “fresh eyes”. And perhaps bring something to your own personal environment that speaks to you in an important way. A way that expresses your purpose.
