What do we love more than summer vacation? The foods of summer, of course! Fall is just around the corner and these final days of summer must be met with celebration, sunshine and outdoor feasts. Our idea of the ultimate summer BBQ is an array of fresh catches and grilled delicacies that all come together on our signature, summertime pattern, Blue Torquay.
Blue Torquay is an ornate, ceramic pattern that transports us to southern England around 1820. It was born in the quaint resort town of Torquay located off the coast of Devon. The pattern’s deep azure color of seashells and encircling sea grass is an ode to the harbor’s abundant marine life and oceanfront activity.
Torquay is called one of the “jewels” of the English South West and dubbed the “English Rivera”, due to its’ palm trees, piers and recently acclaimed ‘foodie paradise’, lined with charming restaurants. Its shoreline is also known as a special place for temperate vacation weather and truly the perfect destination to get away.
As the embodiment of waterfront delights and seafaring beauty, Blue Torquay symbolizes what summer is all about: beach, food and having fun together. It is the quintessential ‘summer party’ design, able to match with an array of table settings. From your dining table, to patio, or dockside picnic, Blue Torquay can accompany all your warm-weather amusements, especially since its durable, ironstone material can hold all your yummy dishes and is dishwasher safe!
Speaking of food, Mottahedeh trekked up to Maine to find foods that scream East Coast Summer to compliment our beloved Blue Torquay. After our travels, we crafted a list of tasty, main dish options that are perfect for your oceanfront barbecues, clambakes or cookouts:
Surf N’ Turf: Typically grilled filet, served with steamed, grilled, or fried seafood, i.e. lobster, prawns or shrimp
Steamers: Steamed clams served whole shell served with melted butter or fresh lemon juice
Lobster Rolls: Fresh, steamed lobster meat served in a grilled hot-dog roll
Burgers: Beef. Turkey. Salmon. Veggie--Oh my!
Fish Tacos: Grilled mahi, battered cod, ahi tuna or any fresh fish with varieties of slaw, thinly sliced fruit or relishes in your desired taco wrap
As you can see, whether it’s England’s or New England’s coast on the Atlantic, Blue Torquay always adds some sea-inspired delight to your beachfront entertaining. This English transfer ware pattern can account for all your hungry guests who will dine on tableware that not only is historic, but also timelessly fun. Now, let’s go grill some burgers and crack open a lobster or two while we watch the sun go down on these last weeks of Summer.
