Today we are excited to share with you our first ever GUEST POST by Nazanin Mondschein, copy editor of Violet Book Magazine and founder/designer of Monde Shine Jewelry. Apart from being awesome, she is also a close friend and avid lover of Mottahedeh. We could not be more excited to have her blog for us today.
"While I dream of owning a psychedelic mix of Mottahedeh's lush, ornate patterns—especially the Sacred Bird and Butterfly range and all the quirky-beautiful vegetable-shaped tureens—there is something so appealing about the simplicity and minimalism of their Jars range. Designed and handcrafted in France since 1857, Jars' glazed ceramic pieces made from natural materials and pigments are sculpture-like, evoking the organic tones and forms of the work of British modernist artist Barbara Hepworth. The remarkable way in which Hepworth's sculptures simultaneously convey lightness and density, softness and solidity, make them alluring works despite their superficial simplicity. The quiet majesty of the Cornish seaside where she lived and worked for the latter part of her life seeps through her art and takes me right there.
These Jars pieces distinctly remind me of Hepworth's work. To own them would be to bring that compelling quietude of nature right into my home and to make it a part of my every day life."
