We live in the woods, and so Thanksgiving decorations in our home generally include gourds, nuts and leaves. This Thanksgiving I thought a nice little center piece could reflect that. Most people use Cache pots to pot plants. We use it here as a large vase for locally grown flowers, offset with a few white roses. To add a little more interest to the center of the table, and to make it edible, we placed the cache pot on top of one of our Prosperity Dinner Plates and filled it to the rim with walnuts to snack on between courses. After all the food is done and gone, the flowers and nuts can remain a center piece for the following week. Kick it up a notch by making candied walnuts with sugar and spice (and everything nice). It combines a floral arrangement with a nut bowl in a unique and absolutely beautiful way. Take them apart at the end of the season and replant bulbs in the cache pot for the spring, or use it to decorate for the winter holidays. The dinner plate can double as a serving plate.

Gourds can be bought for cheap at any local nursery or grocery store. Using a bit of gold spray paint, we painted a few gourds and pears to tie everything together with our gold-rimmed dinner plates. It's easy, you can do it yourself.
