Spring is finally here! My daffodils are in full bloom, birds are returning, and the sun is rising earlier and setting later. This biter cold winter has made the coming of spring even more sweet.

We call this pattern Chelsea Botanicals. Each of the six dinner plates has a different floral design. Botanical illustrations applied to porcelain were made famous at the Chelsea factory in 18th century England. Sir Hans Sloane, physician to King George III, commissioned paintings of newly arrived Chinese plants in the Chelsea Physic Garden. These are adaptations of those paintings.

This pattern when viewed alone, used to seem somewhat out-dated to me. I'm of the slightly younger set (growing older each day), but what I found is that the colors used are actually quite beautiful and modern. When paired with our Plum Lace Service Plate or even our Apple Green Lace Service Plate - the pattern is made fun and fresh once again.

The pictures below don't do these plates justice. They look muted/muddy, but in fact they're actually quite vibrant in the depth and complexity of their colors (take a look at the first two photos in this post).
