I'm a little obsessed with all these cake decorating shows that have become the new "big deal" on the food network and other stations. My favorite recently has been Amazing Wedding Cakes. The things these maniacs (in a great way) come up with is so entertaining to watch. They're basically sculping cake. They're artists. And it's thoroughly enjoyable to see how it starts as a flat round cake and turns into a shoe or a castle or a fish pond. If you don't believe that it's a little addictive, evidence is that my husband is now hooked as well. (But he may not admit to it.)

Three season's later, and I'm about ready to try a masterpiece of my own. But while you all wait in anticipation for my china inspired cake awesomeness (which for my sake, hopefully will never pan out), I decided to google, "Creative Mottahedeh" and look at what I found!

I was directed to Southern Accent's webpage; specifically "Cake Walk" posted by Karen. Where she shows a cake that was inspired by our very own Duke of Gloucester pattern.

"Patty B. Driscoll created this cake for a bridesmaids' luncheon and patterned it after the bride's china. Every bit of decoration is made of sugar, from the glazed fruit to the cast platter the cake sits upon. There's really no need for a floral centerpiece when you have a dessert this beautiful. It's hard to imagine cutting into a work of art like this, isn't it? That I know the cake took Patty almost a month to make and decorate makes it even harder."
How awesome is that!?
