...or his wife!
Plenty of men (and women) enjoy fishing. But for a lot of people fishing ends at the end of the warm season. Not the case for ice fishers! It's just the beginning of the season, depending on where you live. Regardless of if you like to fish or not, we all know the best part about catching a fish is actually getting to eat your sport! How rewarding is it to know, that if you were stranded with only a fishing pole and some bait, (and all the amenities of a kitchen) you'd be able to feed yourself?
This past summer two of my friends went sea-kayaking out in the ocean off of our backyard. They returned with a wild striped bass, but had no clue how to cook it. Luckily Mama K was home and did her magic. And a small feast was had! (This seemed like a pretty tasty recipe if you do happen to find yourself with a bass handy - CLICK)
Fish Plank Platter (W3007) - $310Now for anyone who cooks fish on a regular basis, or has a spouse who brings home fish all the time, here's the gift worth giving to them! A fish plank platter! (Say that 10 times fast...) It has an image of a catfish on it, but it can really be used for any type of cooked fish.
This plank platter is part of our Waterdance service. Each fish from the service is interpreted from Chinese watercolors originally created for export between 1790 and 1850 for the British market. Watercolors featuring flowers, fruits, birds and fish, painted by anonymous Chinese artists were highly sought after by Europeans and Americans for their fine quality and life-like character. The fish that inspired the designs for the service are from a set of watercolor drawings now in the Winterthur Library!
Now go clean up and get ready for some fine dining! Fishing might by grungy, but if it ends with a beautiful meal on this platter, it's all worth putting up with.
