I like keeping candles in our bathrooms. It gives people the opportunity to light them instead of using an air-freshener. Often I don't really like the synthetic smell of air fresheners. The only issue with placing a candle in the bathroom is that you need to have something to light it with. You could leave a lighter in there, or fill a tray with matchbooks you've collected from restaurants. But what I'm starting to find is that a lot of restaurants are more inclined to put out mints instead of matches. So, I ran to the local grocery store to pickup a set of matchbooks. The only issue was that they were ugly. "Not a problem." I said as I dashed up the stairs to my paper-stash. This is an incredibly easy and cheap way to decorate your bathroom in a very practical way.
You can get a pack of matchbooks at your local grocery store for a couple of bucks. Simply measure the length and width of the matchbook and cut it out of a scarp of paper that matches your bathroom. (If you have left-over wallpaper you could use this as well) I used Modge Podge to glue it to the outside of the matchbook, leaving the lighting strip uncovered.
Let it dry and there you go! Instant style and affordability! Our verse trays make for the perfect place to keep those matchbooks near any candle you might have in the house.
Wrap the matchbooks in a couple of different interesting papers, place them on a verse tray, and give it away as a hostess gift! It's made even more appreciated by the fact that you took the time to make them yourself.
