Let's get serious here. When we're in college our dining menus drastically take a hit. Can you guess the top 5 ranked college foods? According to HubPages the 5 are as follows:

Hot Pockets
Macaroni & Cheese
Chef Boyardee
Hot Dogs
Ramen Noodles

Being a college graduate, I can vouch for that list. Having a younger brother who is currently in college means I've seen the empty boxes, the stacks of mac & cheese, the pizza pockets stored away in a mini fridge. It's cheap, it tastes good, and when you don't have the time, energy, or cash to hit up the dining hall, simple and cheap foods become the norm. Almost every dorm has a microwave - since stoves and ovens are a major fire hazard.

So if you're looking for a gift for a college kid here are two options:

Pros:

  • The perfect size for a hearty bowl of cereal at any time of the day or night.
  • Can be used for an array of foods including, but not limited to: Chef Boyardee, Mac & Cheese, Ramen, ice Cream, or re-heated leftovers from the food hall.
  • Can be used in the microwave, freezer, and put in the dishwasher.
  • Since it's made from hard porcelain it's less likely to chip and break than Target bought china.
  • It's blue - so it's perfect for guys or girls.

Pros:

  • Look at how cool that Dragon is!
  • Going out on Friday for dinner? Have left-overs? Throw them on the plate, stick it in the micro, and nuke it - a hot, quick, and cheap meal. It's all about stretching the meals!
  • Allows for cooking frozen or pre-made foods stored in a fridge or freezer.
  • Perfect size for a sandwich in front of the computer/TV while taking a short study break.
  • Easy to wash, won't fade, hard to chip.
  • Dishwasher safe
  • Will last longer than 1 school year.
  • There's a RED option.
  • Again! Look at how cool that dragon is!
