To kick off the 55th Washington Antiques Show, we visited Mazza Gallerie’s Neiman Marcus last week to see Mottahedeh, a 75-year-old design firm that made china for Presidents, specializing in reproductions like this dish.

Mrs. Kvalheim talked about history and how to tell a fine piece of porcelain. Neiman Marcus hosted a great cocktail party and trunk show of period Mottahedeh china pieces. The present day Order of Cincinnatti was there in force.

Here: Neiman’s Dianne Bachman and Mottahedeh prez Wendy Kvalheim with the Order of Cincinnati Leaf Plate, an exact reproductions of George Washington’s revolutionary period china.
