LOBED BOX W/ROSE FINIAL

During the last years of the ancien régime of Louis XVI, a ceramics factory was established in Paris to produce the delicate creamware designs in fashion at the time. In 1786, under the patronage of Louis-Philippe-Joseph Duc d’Orleans, the company established itself on Rue Amelot in Pont-aux-Choux. Mottahedeh’s reproductions from the Louvre’s Musée des Arts Décoratifs include Bird Tureens and the Rose Box and capture the refinement and detail of the antique originals. The Lion Tureen is reproduced from a complementary design of the period.
